An appealing and diverse armful of books was waiting for me at the library tonight, but I already had Stairway to a Secret with me for the gym so haven't started on them yet . . .
A group of friends wanted to read Mr. Emerson's Wife after reading American Bloomsbury and having visited Concord together. I enjoyed it but several felt the author has speculated too much about the heroine. But isn't that the challenge when writing historical fiction about individuals who are not well known? Some authors are definitely more convincing than others.
I like the looks of the Agency and Mr. Emerson's Wife. Happy reading!
