Too much love

I am a big Hillary fan but dialogue like this is somewhat silly:

Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.) told Clinton, "You're a dedicated public servant."

"You have been such a leader," Clinton replied.

"I couldn't have asked for a better answer," Boxer returned.

The French call it l'esprit d'escalier, "the wit of the staircase," those biting ripostes that are thought of just seconds too late, on the way out of the room - or even, to tell the truth, days later.
