This is a family favorite that comes from the Williams-Sonoma Chocolate cookbook. Usually my niece Alexa or my sister Clare makes them but I had a craving the other day and made them for myself.
Ingredients:
1 tablespoon baking powder
½ teaspoon salt
¼ cup sugar (plus 2-3 tablespoons)
¾ cup (or more) chocolate chips (I prefer the mini size)
1 ¼ cup heavy cream
2 tablespoons melted butter
Instructions:
§ position rack in middle of oven, preheat to 425
§ sift together flour, baking powder, salt and ¼ cup sugar, mix thoroughly with fork
§ mix in chocolate chips
§ pour in cream and stir with fork until the dough holds together
§ transfer dough to lightly floured surface and knead 10 times, pushing dough away from you, folding it back over itself and giving it a quarter turn each time
§ pat into 9 inch disk
§ brush with the melted butter and sprinkle with the 2 tablespoons sugar
§ cut dough into 12 pie shaped wedges and transfer to ungreased heavy baking sheet, leaving at least an inch between wedges (you can instead make smaller ones and reduce baking time slightly)
§ Bake until tops are golden brown, about 15 minutes (check after 12)
