February 2026 Reading
Several books I enjoyed this month - I reread the first book about Fiona Griffiths, which I appreciated in a different way having read the whole series. I really liked Codebreaker, a debut YA thriller, and was intrigued by Tapestry, although I found the heroine very annoying.

August 2025 Reading
My favorite August books were the two historical fiction novels - Niccolò Rising, which I had carried unread to Bruges and back in May (I suppose it was too layered for airplane or train reading but how I wished I had read it before our trip) and the fourth Emmy Lake book. I am sorry to see that series come to an end, although I am sure the author has other projects in mind. I read a few more of my 20 Books of Summer but still have five left. I would have completed more except for a host of library books all appearing at once with non-renewable deadlines. I’m sure these five can wait a little longer but I need to impose one of my occasional moratoriums on library books so I can read some of the books piled around my house. The (poor) books are always with us . . . . Speaking of poor, the worst book of the summer was The Great Misfortune of Stella Sedgwick (see below). Thank goodness I got this from the library!

My July 2023 Reads
Summer days drifting away . . . even if you can’t take time off to sit on the beach in July, it seems appropriate to read lighter fiction, which I needed after I finished Middlemarch (despite enjoying it).

My May 2023 Reads
The biggest treat this month was the new Jane Casey book about Maeve Kerrigan, The Close, straight from London as my sisters and I could not wait for its US publication. I also really enjoyed The Bullet That Missed by Richard Osman, the third Thursday Murder Club book, and Lying Beside You by Michael Robotham. June will be a slower reading month due to three short trips and Middlemarch. Hmm, I guess it is no coincidence that all four books have British settings; I am nothing if not consistent.

My Life in Books - 2022
I borrowed this meme from AnnaBookbel, but I have done a few similar versions in the past.
Using only books you read in 2022, answer these prompts. Try not to repeat a book title (links in the titles will take you to my reviews where they exist).
In high school, I was: The Woman in the Library (Sulari Gentill)

My July 2022 Reads
My favorite July book was the audio of a book I had read when it first came out, The Shell Seekers by Rosamunde Pilcher. It was expertly narrated by Hayley Atwell and entertained me on my way back and forth to work for several weeks.

August 2021 Reads
Some thoughts on my August reading:
Mystery and Suspense
City of the Lost (Rockton #1) by Kelley Armstrong
A Darkness Absolute (Rockton #2) by Kelley ArmstrongThis Fallen Prey (Rockton #3) by Kelley Armstrong – These Rockton books are a seven-book series about Casey Butler, a homicide detective living in an isolated town in the Yukon where people go who don’t want to be found. I am enjoying them, so long as I don’t have to go live there! I recommended the first book to my sister around August 5th and she is already on book 5!

WWW Wednesday – August 18, 2021
WWW Wednesday is run by Taking on a World of Words.
The Three Ws are:
What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?
I am currently reading Noel Streatfeild: A Biography by Angela Bull, a respected author in her own right. This is for a project I am working on about Streatfeild’s orphans and their ambitions.
