Spell the Month in Books - May

Spell the Month in Books is hosted by Reviews From the Stacks and occurs on or near the second Saturday of each month:
M - The Moving Finger by Agatha Christie (1942). The Agatha Christie Estate, in conjunction with her US and UK publishers, is constantly promoting her books with reading challenges, puzzles, and information about new movies or miniseries. This book is set during WWII and involves a pilot recovering from a bad crash, who moves with his sister to a gossipy small town. Jerry and Joanna are lazily enjoying rural life until it is interrupted by a rash of anonymous letters and a murder. Thank goodness for Miss Marple because the murderer has everyone fooled . . . (my review)
A - Alias Emma by Ava Glass (2022). This is the first book in a fast-paced and sometimes humorous espionage series about an agent whose father was a Russian spy killed by his countrymen. Emma – not her real name – grew up in Britain and is trying to prove herself so is given an assignment of keeping a valuable asset safe for 24 hours. That is when everything starts to go wrong! (my review)  I've read all three books in this series and particularly enjoyed the first and third.
Y - Yours from the Tower by Sally Nicholls (2023). This is an epistolary YA historical romance that would appeal to fans of Eva Ibbotson. In the last years of the 19th century, Tirzah, Sophia, and Polly are best friends who are now far apart, adjusting to adult life after boarding school and writing to each other to share their news. I liked Polly the best, teaching in an orphanage; Sophia, the most affluent, is staying with relatives for a London season; and Tirzah is stuck living with her grandmother. Not everyone likes multiple points of view but I found this fairly well done. It’s the third book I have read by this author.  I think this one was recommended by my friend Emily in DC.

Have you read anything by these authors?

May is usually a tough month because of the Y. But it was nice that it was a free choice of topic. I found a gril's name and went from there.
Here is my list: https://momobookblog.blogspot.com/2025/05/spell-month-in-books-may-2025.html
